Hartley Wintney, UK, November 19th 2012 - Getmapping's integration of its street level imagery (Getmapping Street Layer) has won Bath and North East Somerset Council the GeoPlace Exemplar Award for Services. The locationally accurate 360° high resolution street level images are seamlessly incorporated into the Council's mapping applications that are hosted by Getmapping.

EXEMPLAR

Street Layer imagery is available to any or all staff inside the Council via Getmapping's District Online Web GIS. Functionality includes full NLPG integration with search made by using an address or UPRN (unique property reference number), with multiple viewing angles displayed in up to three windows. The imagery can be looked at with OS MasterMap or any other PSMA data inside a split screen arrangement. Additionally it is easy to take point and line measurements at centimetre accuracy with full CSV data export. Every one of the data, resides remotely so there is no hardware overhead. The entire solution helps to make staff easier, cuts down on the variety of site visits and driving and for that reason cuts carbon emissions in line with Council targets. Staff in the contact centre will have an instantaneous look at a house when individuals call, all that's needed will be the caller's address. This will make it simple to identify, street lights, access or highway problems.

“We are delighted to have won this award, said Martin Laker, GIS Manager for Bath & North East Somerset Council. Getmapping Street Layer imagery and its integration into Getmapping's Web GIS has made it easy to reduce our staff car usage. Planning, Property and Highways are all reporting that they are lowering the variety of site visits. A 3% reduction is sufficient to buy the service and we have achieved by investing in ease. Elsewhere our CRM team are reporting improved response times from having the capacity to find and visualise the property at the start of a customer call. Having the ability to validate what's being reported is now easier. All of the imagery is date stamped which is a great help to determine precisely when events occur, continued Laker.

EXEMPLAR

“Getmapping Street Layer imagery represents a reasonable and superior alternative to other street imagery available on the internet. The savings being made is going to be sufficient to refresh the imagery every 2 yrs, said Chris Mewse, GIS, Business Development Manager at Getmapping. By integrating the imagery and tools straight into our web applications users can look at aerial photography, an entire array of Ordnance Survey maps then click directly into detailed geometrically accurate street level imagery to know specific detail. The imagery also provides an extremely accurate historical record of roads and buildings inside authority a lot of which falls inside Town of Bath, a UNESCO World Heritage Centre, continued Mewse.
